Migration Continues Soaring at U.K., Ireland Box Office as The Iron Claw Makes Str

Universal’s “Migration” stayed atop the U.K. and Ireland box office for the second consecutive week with £2.4 million ($3.1 million), according to numbers from Comscore. The global hit animation now has a total of £6.6 million in the territory.

Another Universal title, “Argylle,” stayed in second place for the second weekend in a row with £994,542 for a total of £3.7 million. Lionsgate’s “The Iron Claw” made a strong debut in third position with £754,152.

In its third weekend, in fourth place, Disney’s “All of Us Strangers” collected £510,035 for a total of £3.7 million. Rounding off the top five was Trafalgar Releasing’s “Peppa’s Cinema Party” that debuted with £490,779. The re-release of Warner Bros.’ “Dune,” ahead of the release of “Dune 2” on March 1, earned £335,657 in 10th position.

Coming up, there are several releases midweek on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day. Picturehouse Entertainment is opening Trần Anh Hùng’s French culinary romance “The Taste of Things,” starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel. From Paramount comes “Bob Marley: One Love,” starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, Lashana Lynch and James Norton, while CinemaLive is screening “My Favorite Things – The Rodgers & Hammerstein 80th Anniversary.”

A day later, on Feb. 15, Yash Raj Films is releasing hit Malayalam-language youthful romantic comedy “Premalu.” The day also sees the Dreamz Entertainment release of another Malayalam-language film, the highly anticipated horror-thriller “Bramayugam,” headlined by superstar Mammootty.

On the Friday, Sovereign is opening Viggo Mortensen-starring “Eureka,” which debuted at Cannes 2023. Icon is debuting Venice and Toronto title “The Promised Land,” for which lead Mads Mikkelsen won best actor at the 2023 European Film Awards. BFI Distribution is releasing music documentary “Getting It Back: The Story Of Cymande,” while another documentary, set on the streets of London, “Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son,” is being bowed by Dartmouth Films.

There are three re-releases on the Friday. Park Circus is opening Neil Jordan’s “Interview With the Vampire,” starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and “One From The Heart: Reprise,” the 4K restoration of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1981 film; while Universal is releasing Tom Hooper’s “Les Miserables,” starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
