Lake Bell, Ed Helms Starring in Comedy Whats the Point?

Ed Helms and Lake Bell are starring in the comedy “What’s the Point? (And Other Fair Questions About Marriage)” with Bell directing from her own script.

Production will start next month in Los Angeles and will be financed by Cold Iron Pictures and the Film Arcade.

The film marks Bell’s follow-up to the comedy “In a World …,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, earning Bell the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. She received several nominations and prizes, including an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best first screenplay.

Bell (More Films), Jett Steiger (Ways & Means), Miranda Bailey and Amanda Marshall (Cold Iron Pictures) are producing “What’s the Point?” The executive producers are Jason Beck and Andy Bohn (The Film Arcade).

“What’s the Point?” is an ensemble comedy investigating the concept that marriage should be a seven-year contract with an option to renew.

“Supporting female filmmakers is incredibly important to us and we are so excited to produce Lake’s follow-up to the fantastic ‘In A World …,’ ” said Miranda Bailey.

Bailey was a producer on Bel Powley’s “Diary of a Teenage Girl.”

UTA Independent Film Group and Jamie Afifi at Ziffren Brittenham negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers with the Film Arcade, which was represented by attorney Greg S. Bernstein.

Bell is repped by UTA, the Burstein Company and attorneys P.J. Shapiro and Jamie Afifi. Helms is repped by UTA, Principato-Young and attorney Ira Schreck.
